In the 1800's, Europe had gained power in economic and military standpoints. With this power, Europe started their espansion known as the New Imperialism. By definition, imperialism is domination of another country. This is exactly what Europe started to do. The Industrial Revolution as well as Nationalism and transportation played pivotal roles in the causes of the New Imperialism. Those that held industries wanted resources for their goods as well as new markets. Nationalism was important because countries like France, Britain, and Germany were rival nations, and each wanted to be better than the other. Also, naval bases were needed to ship supplies around the world.
