More Than 100 Years Later, the World I Live In Still Displays the Impact of the New Imperialism

More than 100 years later, the world I live in still displays the impact of the New Imperialism. In Africa, missionaries spread Christianity to regions which were already Islamic. I believe that this could possibly be a reason why there is so much war over different religions in this region of the world. Of course New Imperialism spread and changed the culture of many to become more "western". In this time period, the Suez Canal was built. Without the building of the Suez Canal, transportation by water would take much longer, and trade between India and the west would be lessened. The spread of stronger governments occurred in India, which might be different than it is today if it were not for Britain.
