King George III had porphyria, "a heriditary disease of body metabolism, producing abdominal pain and mental confusion." In some cases it can distort your body or cause rashes. 'Werewolves and Vampires' are said to have this disease.

King George was mad, blind, and deaf when he died in 1820 at Windsor Castle.

When Lord North became prime minister in 1770, King George supported many of his tax raises and this led to the American Revolution.

In 1811, after he became bling and deaf, George was replaced by his son by Parliament in the Regency Bill.

The population doubled during his reign, and he was given the nickname "Farmer George".

Along with his reign as king of Great Britain, he was also the Duke of Wellington from 31 March 1751- 20 April 1751 and the Prince of Wales from 1751-1760.

George III blamed much of the large sum of national debt on the corrupt government.
Most excellent research! King George was pretty stupid...and Lord North wasn't much better...
ReplyDeleteI am sure glad I don't have porphyria...it looks disgusting...
I find it amusing that George III blamed the debt on the government. Who did he think he was? Was he not part of the government himself? I guess that just helps to prove his insanity though...
OMG! I wish I never saw that picutre at the top. Thank you for that. ANyway, I liked how you found odd little things that will be really important for us to use. Like having mental breakdowns would explain the Brit's stupidity during the war. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKing George definately was loco and the disease he had was a great backup to the argument. He was corrupt for supporting the corrupt government and especially for the raising of taxes.
ReplyDeletehahaha the corrupt king is blaming the corrupt government....... HIMSELF. um... yes, well, I laughed. In any case, great post! Those are good details about the end of his life, and that's interesting about "Farmer George".
ReplyDeleteVAMPIRES AHHHH I wonder if he sparkled
Ah, the great blundering fool! As the book said, perhaps he was a good man, but George III was a hopelessly foolish king! No wonder he ended up mad, blind and deaf...
ReplyDeleteCool pics! Especially the one of the hand. It is important to know about George III; I do not remember him from AP Euro last year and I learned from your posts.
ReplyDeleteAhhh so he was really INSANE? Thats pretty crazy :) Thomas Jefferson should have listed that in the Declaration of Independence too. Why was he only Duke of Wellington for 20 days? Thats a little bit odd... Well anyway thanks! This was an awesome post!
ReplyDeleteBlind, deaf, and dumb? Was George a pinball wizard?
ReplyDeleteInteresting facts! I didn't know one could lose the office of Prince of Wales.
Haha British humour the government is corrupt and I am their head.
ReplyDeleteThe info and pictures are good. And that hand...well...I'm glad I don't have what George III had. He sure seems crazy.
Like me say my little saying and I don't want to hear any ridicule for doing so. Joe, you shouldn't use the name BlackHawk cause you surely did not go down with that post. My tears of joy were far more bountiful than those shed for my awful quote.
ReplyDeleteNo see, No hear, No speak. King George was all of those.
ReplyDeleteSimple and straight to the point... good job
Lord North looks reallllllly stupid in that picture to me. And The Farmer George thing is hilarious because it could describe you so well, Joe. At least the farmer part anyway...
ReplyDeleteThat hand is disgusting but I did learn some interesting things about Lord North and King George. Thanks for that riveting ride.
